This is the weirdest fucking story you'll ever read. Trust me.
Excerpt:
"Hey Robert, have you seen that package I was expecting? It should've been delivered by now." John pounded his fist into his palm. "God help me if they lost it..."
"No," Robert replied from downstairs. "Have you seen mom? She should've been home an hour ago."
"No, actually I haven't. Help me look for my package and I'll help you look for mom."
Neither man noticed the odd hen standing in the corner of the room watching them. She preened her feathers and pecked the ground, her eyes darting to and fro. Something wasn't right, but she wasn't sure what.
The two men turned the house upside down looking for John's package. But it was nowhere to be seen. No one knew where it was.
No one but the hen.
Maybe she should help them look. But...who was hen? Why was she acting this way?
"What was in that stupid package, anyway?" Robert plopped down on the sofa and switched on the sports channel.
John's voice lowered. "It's uh...nothing, just some pills from the dark web."
Pills. Sarah remembered now. They came in a big box. Very colorful, much fun. Had she...ingested the pills? She tried to remember, but found her concentration suddenly lacking.
"Pills? Don't tell me you bought more date-rape pills. John, you know what I've --"
"No." The tall, brown-haired man that used her be her chick - uh, son - said, shaking his head. "Not date rape. They...uh...well, see, it's hard to explain."
Sarah wanted to hear her chick's explanation. What were those pills, anyway?
"Go on, I have all night. At least until mom gets home."
Mom?
Mom?
Sarah's beady eyes widened. Why, that's me! My chicks need me!
Robert shooed the insistent chicken away from him absently.
"Well..." John plopped next to his brother and sighed. "They change women..."
"Change them?" John's head swiveled so fast the room spun. "Change them into what?"
Sarah pecked her chick harder. I'm here! I'm here!
"I...uh..." John looked down and for the first time saw the chicken who was trying desperately to get his attention.
"Yes?"
"Into that!" John pointed at the soft-brown cute hen that was looking at them with her head cocked to one side.
