I'm not really sure what happened. My mind is nearly blank and everything seems to be in a fog.

My husband did this. I just know it. He did something to my will and now I can't resist...

The dog?

Let me explain.

It was a typical lazy Saturday morning - well, lazy for anyone but me. My husband was playing fetch with his new dog, Buddy. Buddy was a large Labrador Retriever, jet black, just a good boy. You know the type.

He had some friends over and after a bit of boistrous laughing, they suddenly went silent. As a mother, my spidey senses instantly started tingling.

They were up to something.

But what?

Edging closer to the doorway, I perked up my ears and tried to listen in on their conversation. I could only hear bits and pieces of it, but nothing substantial. Something about a new drug.

Probably Viagra or something. I shrugged and went back to cleaning up.

Twenty minutes later, hubby came in, mixed me up my favorite sweet tea and told me to take a breather and that he'd finish up. That was sweet of him!

Five minutes later and I started feeling woozy. Not woozy like I was sick - more like a brain fog. I stood to maybe go upstairs and lie down, but that's when hubby came back in - this time with his dog in tow.

"Honey, what's wrong? You look a little...under the weather." He said in a sweet, caring voice - that I've now come to realize was just an act.

"Yeah. Must've been working too hard. I'm just gonna lie down for a --"

"Nonsense! You look really hot, why don't strip out of those hot clothes and let me get you a cool rag." Without waiting for my input, he turned around and walked off into the kitchen.

Leaving me alone with Buddy.

Not that I was afraid of the big oaf or anything.

I tried to answer, to say that I didn't need a cool rag, that I just needed to lie down, but I couldn't. Full stop, the words would not form on my lips.

Not only could I not form the words to brush him off, I found myself doing exactly what my hubby suggested.
